here are a few pics of some prototype daemon models i've been looking at cobbling together. top one is my bloodthirster and the bottom ones are what i might use as either daemon princes or nurgle plague drones ;)

Project Bloodthirster goes live
Looking at my chaos daemon prince of khorne and his cost of 255 points, i came to the conclusion that a bloodthirster will do the exact same thing for 250 points! so i will be scratchbuilding myself a bloodthirster of khorne. To that end, enter darryn, our mate who's decamped to finland, and his spare bits. Khorne's praise be on you mate, i will lay many skulls at khornes feet in your honour :)
silence is golden, but duct tape is silver :)
viva le finland! :)

Maulerfiends on the horizon
I have almost finished assembling my maulerfiends, still busy gluing the last pieces together. For now, here is their bases to go with the rest of the army basing theme

Magnetising your models bases, yes/no ?
Since the day i saw our one club member transport his models in a small box but with the bases magnetised so he could ride his bike to 40k i have toyed with the idea of magnetising my armies bases for easier storage/transport also. so here we are, dug out some plasticard, 2 part epoxy and the bunch of tiny 3mm x 1mm magnets i had stuck to my old fridge and started gluing :)

Spawnapalooza!
finally all my spawn models have been assembled and based, with some priming of one squad even. going to be nice seeing these little fellas on the tabletop instead of the chaos fantasy knights i've been proxying them with up to now

All your basing R belong to US
Now ladies and germs, have a look at this photo of what a part of the road looked like after a heavy rain. Notice all the nice little rocky bits? Cheaper you can't get. But how you say does it go from the road to your miniature base? here is my quick and easy solution
now make some filters by drilling loads and loads of holes into pieces of plasticard that has been cut to fit into the bottom of the plastic container
like so :)
now just take your mixed road gravel and in stages sift the different sizes of little rocks apart until you have many different sizes of little rocks to use for all your basing needs

Hobby update 11/02/2013
Been a while since i posted any hobby progress updates, mainly due to me being lazy. Due mainly to being slightly cashstrapped of late i've been looking into alternative conversions and whatnot to get the models i want into my army of choice, right now that being chaos.
A while ago i saw an awesome conversion / scratchbuild over at Dark Future Games where they took a zombie dragon and turned it into a very decent heldrake alternative so i've been scrounging bits and finally decided this weekend to make a start on it. Here is the address to the original post that i'm shameless stealing :)

Some steps have been skipped, just basic gluing together of the torso bits and the maulerfiend lasher tendril somehow didn't make it into the group photo :)
Had the wrong neck here, so had to do some cutting
Pin the tail on the donkey, oops i mean heldrake
ok now i need a pair of wings. normally a pair of zombie dragon wings are used, because the look awesome, but i'm broke so i decided to resort to some old sprue, masking tape, toilet paper and glue :)
lastly i scrounged through my bitsbox and made a start on 2 squads of 10 man chaos cultists

Cut the neck too short so had to do some pinning and praying here also

Dark Eldar Baron Scratchbuild
hello all, up next is by far one of the best hq choices methinks in the dark eldar codex, baron Sucks-On-Eggs. no i can't be bothered to remember his proper name, my guy is called different. in 5th ed he was my one and only hq choice, in 6th i'm learning to love hemmies with liquifier guns, power axes and free pain tokens. My version of the mini deathstar is the baron leading my 20 man blob warrior squad with 3 attached hemmies for feel no pain, furious charge and fearless. Not the most awesome close combat unit, but with a total of 16 str 5 ap 3 attacks, 38 str 4 ap -attacks, 5 str 7 ap - attacks on the charge, it's at least respectable. and thats not even mentioning the 47 poison shots, 3d3 liquifier hits, blaster and shuriken pistol shot on overwatch. all twinlinked thanks to prescience. oh yeah did i forget the farseer tagging along for lols? evil lolz vibes i mean. so without further warbling, meet the baron ...
